Studying abroad can be a life-changing experience! The Gilman Scholarship Program provides up to $5,000 (or $8,000 including the Critical Need Language Award) for undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens and Federal Pell Grant recipients at two-year or four-year institutions. The Gilman-McCain Scholarship provides awards of $5,000 and is also now available for child dependents of active duty military personnel who receive any type of Title IV Federal Financial Aid to study or intern abroad.
Deadlines & Timeline
The March 2020 Deadline application is for students whose programs that start between May 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021.
Please be aware that the application and advisor certification deadlines are in Pacific Time and take into consideration any time difference as students prepare to submit their applications.
The March 2020 Deadline application encompasses programs during the following terms:
All applicants are notified of their status via email. All advisors will also be notified of scholarship recipients via email, and will have access to the status of each student in their Gilman Advisor account.
If an applicant was not selected during the October 2019 deadline application, they may re-apply for for the March 2020 deadline application as long as they continue to meet the eligibility requirements and their program falls within the start dates.
